Ho'oponopono (pronounced hoe-oh-pono-pono)
This simple yet profound technique
- which can be used in meditation or in response to a stressful
situation - is a Hawaiian practice for reconciliation and forgiveness.
Say or chant these four phrases:
- I love you
- I'm sorry
- Please forgive me
- Thank you
This technique enables you to take responsibility for the situation and the outcome, and honours any other other individuals involved....or the part of our Self that is ego-based or struggling.
Practice this technique daily - and especially when you start to experience a negative emotion, feeling or thought. What is it that has triggered this sensation? Is it external? Is it internal? What past emotions or situations are associated with it? Was the negative emotion useful in any way? What would you rather have now?
The great gift of this technique is both its simplicity and its effectiveness: it opens up awareness of our thoughts and the filter or agenda we may have in place.... allowing us to cleanse it, and create a new place from which to interact with the world.
